Server Closure

I'm sorry to say that DareRO will be closing.

Most of you know that this was my first server. The time I had creating and maintaining DareRO, was very entertaining and helpful in my knowledge and experience in ragnarok in general, setting up a server, and the work required to main a server. I have also learned a lot during this time. It was not a waste of time for me, and I apologize to the players who think it was for them.

Anyways, the reason for this is that its taking a lot of my time. The reason being was that I was in charge of almost everything: scripting, developing, client working, administrating ingame activities, etc. I did not expect to have all these responsibilities... it simply is too much.. for any admin to go through. It would've been a lot better to have at least another scripter, and I have been looking for another for some time now.

Another reason was that a buddy of mine said "2+ months, 10 players is not a good sign". So I also felt like this server wasn't really going places. Anyways, I know how you guys have searched for servers, and having some of them close on you. I've tried very hard to keep going, I kept saying "maybe after releasing this aspect, there'll be more players", again and again. But I just can't go on..

Well... Thank you to everyone, the people who tried out my server and the GMs that have helped. I especially thank xpherience who have gave me the opportunity to create DareRO on the first place.

Thanks again and sorry for letting you guys down.

dam, it really sucks for the server to be close down. the server was pretty fun, although the server might lack on players, but every community start up being small to big. dare, your a cool guy, if you every get the server or another up running again, i will be there XP

i wish i could at least help out on the scripting but I'm still learning C right now, not C++ yet (even though there are pretty similar =3=').

Yea, the community was fun and all and I wish I could handle everything to continue maintaining the server.

Lol, might be too late but...
Friends/Players have tried to reason with me to continue with the server. And one of them brought up a good point. I am willing to continue but will have a few changes,
so I'm wondering if people will like it.

Anyways, the changes would be:

- Wipe. (I know its a lot to ask, but because of 20% card drop bug, lots of players were able to get the good cards quickly. This will not attract players. And, I want to get rid of the useless sprites and such from the client & db - had lots of sRO stuff)

- I'll be a little bit less active. I'll work on server from fri-sun. Any prolly a bit on weekdays when I'm not as busy. Anyways, all in all, the server will still be a priority.

- Beta Testing - Maybe for just 1-2 weeks to test out new additions.

- The community has to vote, post reviews, and tell your RO friends to play here. We have to be active! Its the only way to get players to notice a new server.

- Donations. The server doesn't need a lot of them, especially with just having a small community to start with. The donations will 100% go towards server. Extra donations with put on reserves (just in case a month's worth of donations is lower than others) and will be given away as prizes to thank the players for donating (this offer would be available to both donators and nondonators).

- Possibly a name change? (Doesn't really matter much anyways...)

If everyone likes the conditions above and I have a decent GM Team, I'll prolly continue with the server. Hopefully people will look at this xD;

hmm u should probably make a announcement on tat instead of saying that in the Server Closure. And also send a mass email to everyone tats a member. So they stop searchin for a new server

Still not sure if I'll keep it up but if I did, it would be with the conditions in my long post (above). But still not 100% sure since I am not able to find another Scripter yet (and I really need one to get the stress off). But, I'll make a new topic by Sunday about my final decision and send out an e-mail to everyone as well.

If I do keep the server running, with the wipe and all, is there anything you guys want me to change about the server settings? Still want a High Rate? Want the rates posted as a suggestion before (on forums)? I saw that some users were having trouble leveling too 500, maybe you guys want me to lower max levels? (Of course, max stats would be changed as well if max levels are)

I think the people that were having trouble getting to 500, are prolly new to this type of server...It really isn't that hard at all xD

edit: if you're having trouble level, make a post! I'm sure anyone would be willing to give you some tips

yea getting to lvl 500 really isnt that hard haha...
and as for the rates, they can stay the same, i like them o.o

O_O" i agreed with devious and .sai as well. people leveling for their first char might take a little longer, maybe cuz of their gears and suff, but after that, leveling another character(s) should not be a problem. so i think the rates are fine as they are (however~~ the mvp cards drop rate could consider to be rise to 5% instead of 2% AQA).

yeah it was hard to lvl the first time but the rates are ok and i think 2% is ok..
since theres not a lot of ppl, anyone cn hunt mvps but the more players there are, harder it'd be to get mvp cards by hunting them so, maybea little rais? i dunno cuz if its higher, ppl that camp them will have lots of cards... meh i say 2% is fine...

if it where to raise id just raise like just a little, like 2.5% or something but other than that I dont really mind the 2%. As for the leveling thing, yea its mostly that everyone doesnt know about pvp_n_1-3, 1-2 so thats why they complain about leveing for the most part

Dude what ever changes u make but still i will play this server..i like this server a lot ..even i will tell my friends to play this server
